The ambition is noble and the challenge is considerable with « the energy decade 2014-2024 » project launched by Cameroon and that benefits from the expertise of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

According to forecasts by the Ministry of Water and Energy, the country intends to produce 6000 megawatts (MW) of energy during the next ten years.

And for the managing staff of this ministerial department, « the country is on the good way » for the realization of this program.

For this purpose, competent authorities have undertaken for these last five years, energy projects as the construction of hydroelectric dams as well as thermal power plants, without forgetting the renewable energy that is in progress.

On the horizon 2020, Cameroon should produce more than 3000 MW of energy and all seems as projects planned to start from next year onwards will allow boosting energy production of the country.

At present, Cameroon that constitutes the most important energy reserve of the continent after the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), only have 1000 operated MW, what hardly covers 45 % of electricity needs.
