Education of girls: Michelle Obama committed in Africa

Six African countries will benefit from the experimental phase of the « Let Girls learn » project initiated by the American first lady for girls of eleven countries of the world (Albania, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Georgia, Ghana, Moldavia, Mongolia, Mozambique, Uganda and Togo).

The project will be carried out by the American Peace Corps volunteers. According to the news relayed by the Africa RDV site, 650 additional volunteers will be trained in the countries targeted to promote the education and the empowerment of girls.

The same source specifies that among others, the initiative aims building the local capacities through a targeted training, making sensitive the American people and obtaining a support for solutions on the community plan through the partnership program of the Peace Corps, and increasing also the impact of the Peace Corps volunteers in favor of the education of girls.

The American first lady has always been attentive to the needs for women of the African continent. Remember that in 2014, she participated in the « Bring Back Our Girls » campaign to denounce the kidnapping of two hundred school girls by the Boko Haram Islamic sect in the North of Nigeria.
