Gabao festival, a platform for artistic exchanges that takes place every year in Gabon, uses foreign artists, mainly from Senegalese, for the brilliance of the urban cultures of Central Africa, declared its initiator, Jules Kamdem Taguiwa (photo).

« By opposing the Gabonese local artists or artist from Central Africa to the Senegalese artists as DJ Awadi, Daara J, Djiby Dramé, Alioune Mbaye Nder, or Fallou Dieng, the Gabonese realize that they have long way to go again« , he said on Friday during an interview to journalists.

The 12th edition of the Gabao festival that took place from 11th to 13th September in Gabon, got « a full success« , indicated Mr. Taguiwa, on visit in Senegal during the African Music International Fair (SIMA).

« There were during this recent edition, concerts, Round Tables, and dance internships with cultural actors coming from the United States, Europe and Africa« , he underlined.

Mr. Taguiwa specified that this meeting gave a togetherness opportunity to the local artists with the foreigners with the aim of acquiring more experience and marketing the Gabon destination.

Jules Kamdem Taguiwa also admitted to be inspired by the Africa Fête Festival (Senegal) to set up the Gabao festival and palliate the absence of promotion of the urban cultures in Central Africa.
