It’s done! The new Secretary General of the International Organization of the Francophony is finally known. The Canadian candidate, Mrs Michaëlle Jean (55 years), was appointed after a conclave of the heads of States of the candidates. The choice of the new successor to the Senegalese, Abou Diouf nearly reached the stage of secret vote, what would be the first time in the history of the organization. The Canadian is the first woman to hold this post of OIF.

Former governor general of Canada, chancellor of the University of Ottawa, active in the educational cooperation with Africa and special representative of Unesco in Haiti, Michaëlle Jean benefited from a strong support from her country. As Africa Top success reported it earlier, the second important country of OIF (21 million euros in 2014) plays an offensive diplomacy to better position itself within the institution.

The new secretary general of OIF promises to work with all. « The important is to listen to what countries would like to achieve through their vision for the role of the Organization of the Francophony. I am a woman of action for the North and the South who work on an active and closeness diplomacy and I am committed to defend the interests of countries African« , she indicated during her meeting with the Togolese president, Faure Gnassingbe in Washington.
