Environment: Ali Bongo honored at the British parliament

The efforts regarding environmental protection made by the President of Republic of Gabon, Ali Bongo, were rewarded in England during the edition 2014 of Green Ribbon Political Awards.

The Gabonese president was rewarded in the category « Best international environmental action » and is listed among prize-winners of this edition beside of the American president, Barack Obama, the Prince of Wales and the British members of Parliament. Ali Bongo was represented at the awards ceremony by his Minister for Waters and Forests, Noël Nelson Messone.

Several initiatives in favor of environmental protection are to put to the credit of President Bongo. During the United Nations summit on climate held on 23rd September, 2014 in New York, he announced the organization in March 2015 of a meeting for the African decision-makers in order to think about the question of the global warming.

The Gabonese president also increased the budget of the national parks and announced the next creation of marine parks.

« We are finalizing a national allocation plan of lands that is going to allow us to optimize the development of a territory that is at 85 % covered by the wet rain forest. In the coming weeks, our monitoring center for lands will completely be operational and will allow to follow in real time, all the types of use of lands« , he declared at the summit of New York.
