Scheduled in the category of « Full-length film » at the 24th Pan-African Cinema and the Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), « Timbuktu« , the movie by the Mauritanian director, Abderrahman Sissako, will finally be withdrawn from the competition.

According to the news reported by the Jeune Afrique magazine site, the film-maker evoked security reasons.

Abderrahman Sissako walked off a few days ago with seven over eight Cesars involved in the competition in Paris. His movie « Timbuktu » traces back the recent past of the historic city of Timbuktoo, victim of the invasion of the Jihadists. The city which melting pot population is reputed for its warm welcome and its historic vestiges has been since a few years considered as the land of the martyrs.

The 24th édition of Fespaco will take place from 28th February to 7th March 2015 in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).
