The mobile phone operator, Airtel Ghana, announced a partnership with Facebook in order to offer Internet.org application to its customers in Ghana. Internet.org is developed by the American social network Facebook that gives free access to internet services.
«Our partnership with Facebook that brings its Internet.org mobile application in Ghana gives more opportunities to millions of people to stay connected and enrich their knowledge through Internet» declared Airtel Ghana Executive Director, Lucy Quist.
Airtel Ghana, as several mobile companies based in Africa, modernizes its services these recent years to reach a large number of Ghanaians including those in far distant communities.
« We are proud of having the second largest network in Ghana with the faster 3G experience. With this partnership, it will be easier for people to have access to basic Internet services. We are in the avant-garde of the data revolution in Ghana. Thanks to Internet.org, Airtel customers will be able to have access to a couple of free services in categories such as health, education, communication, employment and local information.
