Ivory Coast: FIDAYAM, the international cartoon festival starting on Thursday

Yamoussoukro will host from 14th to 20 till 20th August 2014, the first edition of the International Cartoon Festival of Yamoussoukro (FIDAYAM). The comic strip, less developed on the African continent, will be under the spotlight in the political and administrative capital town of Ivory Coast with the mobilization of experts coming from all over the continent.

« Culture, integration factor for peoples« , such is the theme chosen for the first edition of the International Cartoon Festival of Yamoussoukro (FIDAYAM). Organized by the production and communication agency, Quimy Images, the event aims to be a platform of meeting for professionals of media and cartoon production, comic strip specialists of Ivory Coast and the French-speaking countries of the WAEMU (West African Economic and Monetary Union) zone.

For this first edition, movies projections, round tables and a competition called « 3D Generation » are planned. According to the organizers, this competition aims at revealing the new talents of this sector. The « Bélier d’or » Prize and the great prize of the WAEMU zone will be awarded to the various prize-winners.

FIDAYAM has for objective « to offer a unique, classic and peculiar cultural event to the Ivory Coast political capital town while giving to it the title of qualitative and international showcase of the comic strip, and the excellent meeting place for professional meetings and cultural melting pot« , explained Mr. Kouadio, developer of the event.
