Kenya: Uhuru Kenyatta launching an electronic supply system

Efficiency and transparency are the motto that will henceforth guide the supply system of Kenya.

Indeed, the Kenyan president, Uhuru Kenyatta just launched an electronic payment and supply system.

According to the explanations of Mr. Kenyatta, electronics supply will guarantee that public financial resources are carefully used and achieve the targeted goal, and that the civil servants use in a careful, transparent and responsible way public resources.

« By introducing transparency and responsibility through electronic supplies, we hope to eliminate our purchase system abuses« , supported the president.

Continuing his explanations, he underlined that « the electronic supplies applied under the Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) will provide an effective purchasing and payment system by totally automating the process« .

The system also assures that the goods and service purchasing is made in a fairly competitive and accessible way, explained the president.

« As goods and services purchasing represents approximately 50 % of the government annual budget, the electronic supplies will make save substantial financial resources and will help to establish confidence with the taxpayers« , added Mr. Kenyatta
