The workers at the civil aviation smilingly welcomed the news that concerns the suspension of the privatization process of the International Airport of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
In front of the press on Wednesday in the Burkinabe capital town, the Single Labor Union for Metrology and the Civil Aviation (SUMAC), announced that the International Airport of Ouagadougou will no more be any privatized.
According to the managing staff of the SUMAC, the decision for the suspension of the privatization process was taken on 4th December 2014, by the Prime Minister Yacouba Isaac Zida (photo) who sent to the competent authorities a letter cancelling the privatization of the International Airport of Ouagadougou.
According to the organizers of the press conference, may it not be this decision, the system of the civil aviation was on the way to be weakened in Burkina Faso, because it would have led to serious consequences on the technical, social and economic plans.
Great satisfaction in the workers who however warned that « they would not accept any questioning of this cancellation decision from the post transition authorities« .
« We warn the future authorities that will come in the command of our country about any possible desire of questioning of the decision by the transition government not to privatize any more the International Airport of Ouagadougou« , warned Paul Kaboré, the spokesman of the workers.
The decision to privatize the airports of Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso goes back to 1997, but it was never effective thanks to the multiple pressures from the workers at the civil aviation and their national and international organizations.
