Ivory Coast is hurrying up for the organization of the 8th edition of Francophony Games. Having received in September 2013 a mission of International Organization of Francophony (Oif) led by Mahman Seriba, the country has just signed on 7th April in Paris, the specifications the aforementioned Games. The ceremony saw the presence of Francophony Secretary General Abdou Diouf and Ivory Coast Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan.
After Nice (France) Abidjan will accommodate from 21 to 30 July 2017 the eighth edition of Francophony Games. 4000 young sports talents and artists coming from 77 States and governments of Francophony are expected for the event.
According to the organization official site, Francophony 8th games are placed under the sign of Solidarity, Diversity and Excellence, and have for ambition to join a project of development and strengthening of national cohesion for the organizing country.
Ivory Coast gleaned 6 medals (4 in gold, 2 in bronze) during the last Francophony Games held in Nice (France). The participation of the country was also marked by disappearance of several athletes (players of Basketball team in particular).Original text by: Roger ADZAFO
