Would you like to discover and appreciate the cultural wealth of the continent and Europe through the Afro-contemporary dance? No worries as you just need attend the 3rd edition of the International Dance Festival of Ouagadougou (FIDO), planned from 17th to 24th January of this year.
The opening ceremony of the festival will be held at the French Cultural center (CCF) of Ouagadougou from 8:30 pm (GMT and local time).
Leading a press conference last Saturday in the Burkinabe capital town, the steering committee of the FIDO indicated that this edition of the Festival is going to welcome 23 dance companies from various countries.
Burkina Faso, Coast of ivory, Cameroon, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Morocco, Tunisia, the West Indies, France, Italy, etc are announced for the event.
According to Irène Tassembedo, manager of the Dancing school, (EDIT), « the 3rd edition of the festival almost could not take place because of the political events occurred in Burkina and the psychosis of the Ebola virus disease in some West African countries« , reported APA News Agency.
Other sites as the Burkinabe Theater Workshop (ATB) will be used for dance shows during the week of the festival.
It is planned that every evening, up from 3:00 pm (GMT and local time), dance initiation sessions will be organized in the premises of EDIT.
All the amateurs and sponsors of culture generally and the traditional and contemporary dance in particular, are invited to bring a financial support for the organization of the FIDO 2015.
